This important annual event gave students the opportunity to reflect on their next steps after Year 12 and make informed decisions about their future pathways.
The day was organised by Head of Sixth Form David Whitehorn (Teacher of History), with students joining a number of sessions led by Reading School staff on Law, Engineering, Physics, Modern Foreign Languages, Humanities, Maths, Medicine and student finance.
We are grateful to the representatives from University of Exeter & Lancaster University,, who spoke about degrees and/apprenticeships.
We were delighted to welcome such an exceptional group of ORs, were on hand throughout, offering their own advice and sharing their experiences.
In the afternoon, students were invited to network directly with the visiting ORs. This gave them the chance to ask questions that don't always fit into a formal session, and to hear, informally, what a particular course, city or career path is really like. In their final session of the day, students chose between a University Life session or an Oxbridge-focused session, again supported by returning alumni.
A huge thank you to Achint Rajeev (OR 2018-2025), Alessandro Giacometto (OR 2011-2018), Andrew Coombes (OR 2005-2012), Anish Koduri (OR 2018-2025), Arvind Adavikolanu (OR 2015-2022), Aslan Hussain (OR 2017-2024), Charles Philpott (OR), David Pocock (OR 1971-1978), Dev Goyal (OR 2014-2021), Ethan Emerson (OR 2018-2025), Francis Terry (OR 1956-1963), Giles Pearman (OR 1974-1981), Hariharan Subbiah Ponniah (OR 2011-2018), Joshua Hughes (OR 2021-2023), Kieran Coldwell (OR 2014-2021), Mungo Jackson (OR 2002-2009), Roy Wang (OR 2011-2018), Ryan Liu (OR 2018-2025), Thomas Hanna (OR 2017-2019).
Their generosity, insight and passion gave our students invaluable perspectives on the many routes available after school that will no doubt shape the choices they go on to make.
