ORs in the UK

Last Thursday, an exclusive evening, ORA Drinks in the City - Empowering Future Stories, at The Guildhall, was a remarkable success, drawing over 40 attendees to this historic landmark. We were delighted to see alumni, partners and parents from various graduating years and industries gather together, exchange updates, and reconnect. The event, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, was a perfect blend of history, camaraderie and inspiration.

The evening began with a reception where guests mingled and reconnected in one of The Guildhall's bar and private dining rooms. Following the reception, Jeremy Chadwick ACII , President of the Old Redingensians Association (ORA), delivered a warm welcome and honoured those who came before us, followed by an engaging and heartfelt speech by Chris Evans, Headmaster of Reading School. The Headmaster provided an overview of the latest developments at Reading School and outlined how our dedicated Old Redingensians can get involved in supporting Future Stories, our social mobility programme now in its 7th year which partners with local primary schools to create opportunities and raise aspirations for children across Reading. He also extended an invitation to all guests to join our 900th anniversary celebrations next year.

Their speeches resonated deeply with many attendees, evoking memories of their time at school and prompting reflection on the importance and impact of our social mobility initiative. It inspired attendees to contemplate ways they could contribute to the school's mission.

After the presentations, a delightful selection of canapés was served, followed by a private guided tour of The Guildhall, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in its rich history and architectural splendour.

Special thanks go to Aaron D'Souza for hosting at this magnificent venue and the ORA for sponsoring and organising such a memorable event. We extend our gratitude especially to Jeremy Chadwick, Fraser Peck MD, and Andrew Tuggey for their significant contributions in making this event possible.

Thank you to Jas Chhokar and Esther C. (Alumni, Careers & Society Office) for assisting and our teachers who also attend the evening to share the impact, Clare Heston, Louise Dimmick and David Whitehorn who play an integral part in delivering the Future Stories Programme.

We are deeply grateful to those who have already pledged their support. Your commitment helps us move closer to achieving our vision for the next decade and beyond.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for your continued support. Together, we can create a lasting legacy that will benefit generations to come.
